Rural French Farmhouse – Sleeps 12

"One of the few places that exceeded expectations. A great two-week visit. Glorious house blissfully appointed. We never stopped talking and having fun."

BEAUTIFUL OLD FARMHOUSE, NEWLY RENOVATED IN THE RURAL GERS REGION OF SOUTH WEST FRANCE

Le Pastoureau (The Shepherd) is a glorious, large holiday home sleeping 12 near Gers in the South West of France.

The house is a traditional Gers farmhouse, circa 1760, surrounded by fields and lying in a secluded, peaceful valley with narrow lanes, steep hills and spectacular views. Enjoying more than an acre of lawn, it is blessed with a wealth of shade-giving trees that flower and fruit abundantly. There are walnuts, almonds, figs, quince, apricots and cherries, colourful dry gravel gardens and a profusion of lavender, rosemary and thyme.

The property was bought in 2019 by Tim and Francie Readman as a holiday home for their family and friends and a warmer place to spend some of the colder northern months. Le Pastoureau has a large, unheated pool (12m x 6m) and you can enjoy three separate places to eat outside: lunch under the (non-fruiting) Mulberry tree, under the pergola opposite the kitchen or dinner in the cool of the North terrace:
