LOCATION:
Scandelaia sits in almost 100 acres of olive terraces and woodland, reached by a drive and finally through an avenue of cypress trees. Complete privacy and views over the Monti del Chianti valley towards Siena (25km away) about 30 minutes by car. A house for those who want the city close enough to visit and far enough to forget.
THE HOUSE:
Seven bedrooms sleeping fourteen (five en suite, all air-conditioned). Plenty of areas to relax from the Drawing Room and Dining Room amongst the original arches and stonework and with a double-sided open fireplace at one end. A stone staircase leads down from the house to the outdoor dining terrace and beyond to the infinity pool. A proper working kitchen, resident guardians who'll meet you at the door and cook on request.
THE POOL:
An infinity pool, lit after dark and entirely private, sits below the house with a staggering view over the valley towards Siena. Heated by the Tuscan sun and warmed further on request when you book. Outdoor seating to relax and enjoy with drinks whilst watching the sun set.
CONDITION:
Rebuilt stone by stone over thirty years, from ruin to family house. The olive terrace walls restored by local craftsmen, the olive trees pruned and replenished and producing its own single estate extra virgin olive oil.
