Drum roll please! Tes (formerly The Times Educational Supplement) has just announced the winners of their prestigious Independent School Awards 2019

Showcasing the best of the private sector, these awards celebrate those making remarkable strategic contributions to independent schools, where excellence and innovation is rewarded.

They provide benchmarks for the sector as a whole, opportunities for schools to learn from each other and all shortlisted schools can demonstrate value to their parents.

Bolton School in Greater Manchester claimed the Independent School of the Year Award for not only its academic achievements but also what the judges commended as an “impressive” array of outreach activities.

Autism specialist Holmewood School scooped two prizes for its special needs initiative and senior leadership, highlighting the outstanding work being done in often-overlooked special needs providers.

Tes editor Ann Mroz congratulated this year’s winners, saying: “All of them thoroughly deserved their successes this evening.”

We’d also like to give a special mention to our member schools Cottesmore, Woldingham and Sandroyd who were all winners on the night. Fantastic acheivement!

• International school of the year: Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
