“Alexa, does my child have any homework to hand in?”

In January 2020, Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched the Amazon Alexa EdTech Skills Challenge, challenging companies to use Alexa to transform education. One company that’s made the final shortlist might be familiar to you and used by your own school – My School Portal (MSP).

MSP have developed a really clever Alexa Skill that links directly to your existing parent portal. The skill helps parents stay informed about their child’s education. By using a series of short phrases, you can find out what your child learned that day, homework due soon and any school messages. One simple skill makes the daily routine a little bit smoother and so much quicker. What’s not to love!

The competition was an opportunity for companies to build a skill that addressed education challenges and positively impacted students, faculty, administrators, or other education stakeholders.

You can vote for MSP in the people’s choice category HERE. The winner will receive $25,000 in AWS Promotional Credit and voting closes on 25th July 2020. Should MSP win the prize it will be reinvested into developing more features that help parents.

My School Portal is currently used by over 170 independent schools worldwide, with over 300,000 staff, student, and parent/guardian users. Supporting many feeds, applications, and integrations, it streamlines school communications and requires just one set of login details.

The My School Portal skill helps parents stay informed about their child’s education.
