Beauty summer essentials by Lucia Ferrari
In celebration of launching her exciting new beauty consultancy, Lucia Ferrari has compiled a list of her top summer buys!
Exuviance Vitamin C Serum Capsules £56
Vitamin C when applied on the skin can have a brightening effect as well as protecting from sun damage (but you must also use a SPF). It can also help age spots and pigmentation caused by the sun from getting worse. I love this brand as the vitamin C is delivered in individual doses (so is kept perfectly fresh) and is more effective than other brands I’ve tried.
Kate Somerville Uncomplikated SPF 50 Soft Focus Makeup Setting Spray £34
A cooling mist spray which sets make-up, reduces shine and gives you sun protection. It includes clever light-diffusing powders, which also blur fine lines. It’s genius and I can see why it sells out at Space NK.
Centred Daily Calma Shampoo/Conditioner £22 each
With extra hair-washing during summer months, sulphate and silicone free shampoos and conditioners will keep the hair in much better condition. My highlighted blonde hair has been transformed. It’s in much better condition and the colour looks brighter for longer too.
Shiseido Sports BB Cream, SPF 50 £30
The super light consistency of this tinted SPF gives lightweight to medium coverage (like a good tinted moisturiser) with excellent sun protection. It makes skin look the best version of itself but doesn’t look like you’re wearing any makeup. Perfect for looking good on a dog walk or at an al fresco lunch.
Dr Sebagh Lip Balm £35
Most lip balms are petroleum based which just work on the surface. This shea butter based balm is intensely nourishing and soothing for lips during and after sun exposure and has some skin benefits for fine lines too. It took three years to formulate.
Heliocare 360° Invisible Spray SPF 50, £28.99
This spray is the Lamborghini of sun sprays with both Vitamin C & E and excellent SPF. It also leaves a flattering sheen on the skin. I love their face sunscreens too.
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nettare di Sole £69
My newest summer fragrance discovery which smells of beachy, warm, summer skin with a hint of jasmine and bergamot – one spritz instantly transports me to a Tuscan villa even if I’m on the Number 22 bus trundling down the Kings Road.
Tan-Luxe Super Glow Face Serum SPF30, £35
I love a self tan which gives a healthy glow as opposed to an actual ‘tan’. This product delivers a beautiful golden glow (no hint of orange) and is the only self-tan I’ve tried that feels moisturising.
By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder £38
The ONLY pressed powder I’ll use as all others make my skin look dry and are a bit ageing. Its clever formula takes away shine and minimises pores while providing a soft focus glow. It’s genius. A little bit underneath the eyes can also stop mascara smudging.
