Forest Lodge Cottage lies in the tiny village of Penselwood, just north of the A303 near Wincanton, about two and a half hours from London. Gillingham train station is only 10 minutes and Castle Cary is 20 minutes. Its rare beauty is its position with amazing views high above the countryside of Dorset and Somerset, within an Area of Outstanding Beauty with a direct view of Glastonbury Tor.
Forest Lodge was built on the site of a bronze age settlement on a south west facing slope full of natural springs of water. The lime trees in the parkland were used for the original weaving settlement. The Grade II listed cottage was built in 1809 and recently refurbished to a very high standard. You wake and look over ancient parkland and horses grazing. You are surrounded by quiet walks and lovely views. You are also surrounded by the most interesting places to visit.
INSIDE:
The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It has two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Very spacious living and a dining area with fabulous views and sunshine all day. There are 2 bathrooms one with shower and the other with bath. A gardener will attend to the garden once a week.
