Founded in 1974, Marlborough College Summer School is one of the largest multigenerational learning experiences of its kind. In addition to more than 370 adult courses, there is an impressive array of activities to entertain young people aged from three to 17 years. As well as staying at the College with their families, young people are welcome to attend Summer School as day students. It therefore offers an ideal childcare option, especially as eligible working parents can use Childcare Vouchers or the new tax-free scheme, Childcare Choices towards courses.
While Junior Troopers (3-6 years) and Children’s Activities (6-9 years) adopt the multi-activity approach with a packed programme of arts and crafts, music, sports and outdoor games, older children and teenagers can choose a morning and afternoon course that they continue all week. The 2021 line-up features well-loved courses such as Outdoor Adventures, Tennis, Photograph Like the Professionals and Dance Fusion. Meanwhile, new activities set to be popular with youngsters this year include, Games and Animation Coding, African Drumming, Learn to Play Polo, Dungeons and Dragons, Song-Writing Fun and even a Crime Scene Detectives course for budding forensic scientists!
Besides promising a memorable experience for children and young people, Summer School also offers grown-ups an opportunity to enjoy some time to themselves and escape in a favourite pastime or discover something new. New adult courses for 2021 encompass everything from Macramé to Pilates, Modernist literature to Bee Keeping, Counselling Skills to Interior Design and Lebanese Cooking to Promoting Arts and Crafts with Smartphone Video.
You can attend Summer School from Monday to Friday as a day student or make your experience truly immersive and stay throughout. Full board accommodation is available at the College, plus resident students enjoy free admission to all lectures and evening entertainment, which this year stars the likes of Janet Street-Porter, Kate Adie, Rocket Man and the ELO Experience. Not to mention take advantage of the excellent indoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art gym, after indulging in all the delicious meals and teatime treats served by Summer School’s talented chefs!
Rest assured that Marlborough College will operate in line with any Government guidelines in place at the time of Summer School to ensure the wellbeing of all guests and colleagues. Additionally, if Covid-19 means that your plans have to change you can request a refund at any time up to and including 30 June 2021 without losing your deposit.
