Head's Up
Our vision is for our students to soar: they are the creative thinkers, the change-makers and the problem-solvers of the future.

The inside track from a current parent
We chose Bedford Girls’ School because of it’s forward looking approach to education – the integration of ipads and technology into teaching and learning – without losing the core focus on educational and personal achievement. Without being a ‘hothouse’ BGS encourages every girl to challenge themselves and really fulfil their potential – regardless of whether it is in sport, music, dance, drama or education. The range of co-curricular clubs is vast – with my daughter often participating in 3-4 additional activities in day. The school instils the IB framework and educational values from the Junior School through to leaving the school at 18 – and truly lives it’s values of being Bold, Imaginative and Reflective. During the lockdown in 2020, the school were ready for remote teaching before it was needed, meaning my daughter had full-time, interactive teaching, with lessons and activities planned for PE, music ensembles and a wide range of house activity. The sense of community was maintained despite everyone being in different locations – and meant going back to school has been stress-free (for the girls at least) and simple. We couldn’t have chosen a better school for our daughter.
As parents we love...
- The wide range of activities available to all girls – there is a co-curricular club to suit everybody – from jigsaws, to mindfulness, to sport, to radio club
- The use of technology to enhance learning and the educational experience – this meant the school and girls easily adapted to remote learning at short notice
- The encouragement of independence and bravery, enabling every girl to reach their full potential – there are no limits on what a BGS girl can do
As pupils we love...
- Lunch! – there are lots of options, with specific menus for gluten free, vegan etc. and the whole school is nut-free
- The support from their teachers and all staff to do their best in all areas – the school is well supported by an active PTA and governing body as well as visiting music, drama and dance teachers
- The opportunity to try new things with the great friends she has made – the friendships will last her a lifetime. In senior school, she can do Duke of Edinburgh, Combined Cadet Force as well as sport, music, dance, drama and more
