Head's Up

Start Date: September 1, 2014
Previous Roles: I began my teaching career at St Edward’s Oxford, before moving to Oundle School and then to Reigate Grammar School where I was Senior Deputy Head. Prior to moving to Cranleigh, I was Headmaster of Wellington School, Somerset for eight years.
Something people don't know about you: I worked as a zookeeper at London Zoo when I was 16. I do not recommend your back being licked by a giraffe when you are trying to feed it,

The warmth and inclusiveness of our family atmosphere comes from a boarding school which is large enough for diverse opportunities and small enough for everyone to be known, supported and encouraged. Our guiding values and principles are summarised in four words: service, relationships, leadership and excellence.

The inside track from a current parent

Cranleigh school claims to offer many opportunities and activities that each individual will find their love and passion in life. They certainly deliver….
With four very different children it has been wonderful watching them develop and “ find their reason to get out of bed every morning “ Through these opportunities they develop in confidence and start to pave the way for their adult lives.
Cranleigh have found a rockstar, a linguist, an actress, a sports star, an artist and an academic in our family all who love working as part of a team but can also shine as individuals. Thank you Cranleigh school, you produce happy, rounded children ready to take on the world!

As parents we love...

Amazing opportunities for sport, art , drama and musical theatre mixed in with a healthy balance of academics. A Cranleigh pupil will always sleep well at the end of a very busy week!

As pupils we love...

Making friends for life and getting involved with everything on offer. The teaching staff are excellent but it is the extra curricular activities that our children have taken so much from at Cranleigh. Many happy memories made and so many opportunities to get involved in so many activities with supportive knowledgeable staff that bring out all the children’s hidden abilities and talents.

What makes us different

What makes Cranleigh really special is the caring and friendly atmosphere. Every year pupils join Cranleigh from a range of different schools in the UK and a small number from overseas. Cranleigh is accessible to all families. A range of scholarships is made available every year and these may be supplemented with means tested bursaries up to 100% to fulfil our aim of encouraging a community of diverse backgrounds and interests.
