Head's Up
Glendower girls are inquisitive, intelligent and interested in the world around them – it is one of those rare places that achieves excellent academic results with a big heart at its centre. Girls are expected to be kind and caring towards themselves and others, and these core values are carried throughout the school.
The inside track from a current parent
Glendower is a small school with huge character. It is a very happy school with countless academic and extra-curricular activities on offer.
When we went to visit Glendower for the very first time, what stood out most was the confidence and maturity of the girls. Their ability to speak well and engage in conversation was endearing and they were a pleasure to talk to. We went away thinking how well they represented their school and wanting the same for our daughter. Now seven years later, our daughter has become just as confident, mature and engaging!
In Year 5 and Year 6, children get split up into very small groups in the core subjects to allow for as much personal and individual teaching as possible. Whilst it is an academic school, it strikes a balance and offers a variety of activities and experiences. They have amazing after-school clubs which are always fully subscribed.
During their time at Glendower, girls are continuously encouraged to give their best at everything they do and “give it a go” while following Glendower’s “6Rs”: Readiness, Resourcefulness, Responsibility, Resilience, Reflectiveness and Relationships.
Like the teachers, the school also enjoys a strong management team and is well organised, making it easy for parents.
Glendower is not just a school it is a community. The parents, teachers and girls all work together to make it the remarkable place that it is. Girls are enthused and one school day is never the same; there is never a chance for the girls to get bored.
Academically the school is very well placed to prepare the girls for the 11+examinations and the results speak for themselves.
Glendower offers more than just an education. At the end of Year 6, the girls leave well prepared for secondary school: confident, mature and happy. They would have also acquired a good understanding of the world with its opportunities and challenges, as well as strong life skills which will be essential for their onward journey.

What makes us different
Glendower Preparatory School takes pride in its reputation as one of the leading London Independent Day Schools for girls aged 4-11. The school aims to help girls develop a high degree of intellectual curiosity and academic achievement, beyond the expected levels of subject knowledge and skills. We create an environment where we celebrate individuality and personal achievements.
A particular strength of the school is that we offer specialist subject teaching from Reception, when Music, PE, ICT, Drama and French are taught by specialist staff passionate about their subjects. As the girls move into the Upper School, increased subject specialism is offered to include Humanities and Science, where the curriculum is presented using innovative pedagogy and technology in dedicated laboratories and classrooms. The school is also committed to developing creativity in all its forms and so Drama, Art and Music are all offered to give girls opportunities to develop areas of personal interest or ability.
However, Glendower is about so much more than simply giving girls access to a wide-ranging curriculum. The school places huge value on the hidden curriculum and the soft skills needed to support the girls as they leave us and continue their learning. They are encouraged to develop questioning skills, resilience, public speaking, mindfulness, kindness, self-confidence and all the other tools that we know are becoming increasingly essential for life in the 21st Century. Our Year 6 pupils leave us as well-rounded individuals with an enthusiastic attitude to life ahead.
Girls from Glendower go on to leading day and boarding schools in and around London. They leave the school with a keen sense of responsibility towards the world in which they live, a belief that they can make a difference and the confidence and desire to make that happen.
