Head's Up

“Our school is proud both of its 130 years of history and tradition, and of its forward-looking, innovative approach to education. We are a school deeply rooted in the Christian Methodist tradition that welcomes all pupils of every faith and none, and celebrates diversity in all aspects of our school life. ‘Do all the good you can do’ is a guiding principle, and one that allows pupils to grow and develop into confident young adults, aware of their responsibilities and their place in the world.”

David Lamper

The inside track from a current parent

We chose Kent College due to recommendations from friends and work colleagues and having visited the junior school were so impressed by the friendly family atmosphere that we could not imagine our daughter at the time going anywhere else!

I strongly believe that the school’s ethos both at senior and junior level has instilled confidence and resilience in the children. They have been encouraged to participate in a huge range of extra curricular activities both in and out of school time – music, drama, sport and much more. This includes regular performances on stage to parents and others and builds confidence and self esteem. Regular workshops are arranged for children and parents to broaden their education beyond the “standard” academic work.

For prospective parents I would say that what you don’t realise when reading the prospectus is how much of a community the school feels like to me as a parent and to my children and that being part of that strong community gives them a sense of belonging and confidence that is hard to quantify!

As parents we love...

  • Multiple opportunities in music, drama, sport, the arts as well as events to stretch the more able children e.g. in STEM
  • A strong caring approach and good pastoral care as well as the ability to liaise directly with teachers when required
  • The sense of community and belonging for children and their families

As pupils we love...

  • The grounds and facilities
  • Extra opportunities / trips e.g music / sport scholar trips and talks
  • Knowing lots of people in all year groups

What makes us different

  • Scholarships in Year 7, 9 and 12
  • School Farm and Riding
  • Wrap around care and boarding
  • Exceptional academic results at A level and IB
