The inside track from a current parent
As parents of two boarders, we chose Kingswood for its holistic philosophy ‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can..… for as long as ever you can”. The excellent pastoral care that goes alongside the high levels of academic provision are exactly what we wanted. Both children have blossomed socially, emotionally and academically. Our daughter has gone on to a wonderful university of her choice with grades way above our expectations thanks to the commitment of the teaching staff, and our son is about to leave with hopefully the same high level achievements. From the moment they both arrived, very homesick, the House Staff in each case, and supporting matrons, have been exceptional in the provision of care in a ‘home away from home’. The personal tutors that were allocated at each stage have been marvellous in their dedication in all areas of both school and personal life. One consideration was Kingswood’s high proportion of day pupils and if this would suit our children coming from overseas. Completely to the contrary, both our children ended up surrounded by pupils from multicultural backgrounds and in both cases, their best friends ended up being day pupils because the community is so welcoming. Extracurricular activities are exceptional, with enormous achievements in art, drama, music and sport for both children. On top of this, access to The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme amongst many other possibilities has provided outstanding opportunities in a superbly rounded experience at Kingswood. We could not be more delighted with our choice and both our children have emerged as thriving, highly contributory, resilient and responsible global citizens.
