St George’s is a non-selective school
Head's Up
”With a unique heritage and music running through the heart of the school, St George’s School Windsor Castle is a prep school with an ethos of courage, curiosity, creativity and kindness. We aim to instil a passion for life-long learning and a sense of adventure in all our children, preparing them to be.”

The inside track from a current parent
St George’s is a very special school. Dating back centuries and set in the grounds of Windsor castle, it combines tradition and modernity in equal measures.
For us, an all-round, co-ed prep school in walking distance was a must, as were the sports facilities and focus on music, extra-curricular and pastoral care.
After eleven years as parents at St George’s, we believe that both our children have had an exceptional start – they have had the space, time and nurturing environment to mature into confident, caring and responsible children, with a healthy competitive spirit. They both got into their first choice senior school, both competed at a high level in a number of sports, both sang in the chamber choir and participated in numerous school productions.
There is a real sense of community at St George’s and it is impossible to walk around Windsor without bumping into someone from school!
School assemblies are held every half term in St George’s chapel and major school productions and swimming galas are held at Eton College. The choristers board regularly and the older children can flexi-board as much or as little as they wish – which many really love!
This is not a ‘hot house’ prep school. Of course the children work hard, but St George’s is about so much more than academics – it is a true ‘all-round’ school. Many teachers have been there a long time and are very happy. The majority of children start in nursery and stay until either year 6 (when many day schools start) or go through to year 8. St George’s really does prepare children to be responsible and happy adults, as well as helping them to get into the senior school which is right for them.
What makes us different
Each year, all Year 8 pupils achieve places at their first choice of senior school, including Eton College, Bradfield College, Marlborough and St George’s Ascot. Pupils have also secured scholarships to Rugby School, Stowe, Dean Close and Hampton School.
In Music, our Choristers sang at the Royal Weddings of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
100% of pupils received merit or distinction in their ABRSM music exams. The Chamber Choir visited Llandaff Cathedral to record a CD with Regent Records and most recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Berkshire Maestros.
In Sport, St George’s have been U11 Independent Schools National Football Champions, U11 IAPS Small Schools National Netball Champions, U13 IAPS National Football Finalists, had medal winners at National Fencing Finals and the National Athletics Finals.
