Spotlight on Jewellery Designer Lulu B
With years of experience, Lulu B knows exactly what’s in and what’s out when it comes to Jewellery.
Here she gives us her top picks for the summer and explains how and why she built her business.
Why did you start Lulu B?
Having spent my entire career in the retail industry, predominantly for Marks and Spencer, I set up Lulu B in 2002 to combine my passion for fashion & retail whilst still allowing me the flexibility to work from home and look after my growing family.
Where do you source your jewellery?
I focus on sourcing high quality jewels, from the Far East and Europe, buying only from experts in their chosen fields.
How do you put your Lulu B Collection together?
I hand pick small elements of trusted supplier’s ranges that I really love, and carefully collate my Lulu B Collection. I try to assess what’s new and on trend in the marketplace whilst ensuring the pieces I choose are timeless and transcend fashion. I introduce newness all the time, but parts of my range have become classics and firm favourites, that people repeat buy in a different colour metaI or choose for gifting. I have a passionate belief that a gorgeous piece of jewellery can transform or update an outfit for any occasion, whether it is jeans or heels.
What makes Lulu B competitive in the marketplace?
Price point and value for money! I launched Lulu B with the vision of creating a collection of contemporary, stylish yet wearable and affordable jewellery. Value, and of course style, is always on my mind when putting a collection together.
What’s been your lockdown project?
I am really proud of the new Lulu B website! A new and improved platform jam packed with fabulous jewellery. In the past, my favourite part of my job is interacting and forming relationships with my wonderful and loyal customers. However, during the past few months, I have finally realised the importance of an online presence in the retail industry and have heard the demand from my customers to step up and “get it all online!”
Goals moving forward?
My next challenge is conquering the world of social media and Instagram…eeeek! Follow me @lulubjewellery for updates on what’s new in the range and what’s going on at Lulu B HQ.
