All manner of weird and wonderful things happen when a local celebrity boards a train in 1985 and is catapulted headfirst into some mind-bending time-travel. This unique Sky original movie stars Michael Sheen and Game of Throne’s Nathalie Emmanuel. It’s sure to be one heck of a ride!
Christmas in the City with Michael Bublè (ITV) – December 19th, 10.15-11.10pm
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his wildly successful Christmas album, Michael Bublè takes to the stage for this luscious Christmas special. Sit back and relax with a glass of wine and enjoy an evening of good music, some laughs, a few special guests and, as only Mr Bublé can provide – some real Christmas spirit.
The Royal Variety Performance 2021 (ITV) – December 19th, 7.20pm
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the annual Royal Variety Performance and it never disappoints. With a line up that includes Ed Sheeran, James Blunt, Rod Stewart, Judi Love, Anne-Marie and the Matilda musical cast, it seems this year will be no different!
Hansel and Gretel: After Ever After (Sky) – December 23rd, 6.55pm
David Walliams stars in this slightly bonkers interpretation of the fairytale. This imaginative version begins after the events of the original story, and the famous brother and sister duo escape the clutches of the witch only to find that their village is being terrorised by a new and mysterious sweet-loving stranger. A perfect whacky treat for the family to enjoy.
A Ghost Story for Christmas: The Mezzotint (BBC Two) – December 24th, 10.30pm
If you love A Christmas Carol, you’ll enjoy that delightful unease while watching this haunting adaptation of M.R James’ short story from 1904. The Abominable Snow Baby (Channel 4) – Christmas Day, 7.30pm
A well-loved fantasy short story, imagined by the one and only Terry Pratchett, is brought to vibrant life in a short and sweet animated film. Sink into the sofa and enjoy the classic tale of the giant Abominable Snow Baby who causes a ruckus on arrival at a cosy, snowy town. An adorable story about community and friendship.
Superworm (BBC One) – Christmas Day, 2.30pm
One for the kids – this heartwarming story features a super long and flexible worm who’s on a mission to save his garden friends and battle against the villainous Wizzard Lizzard. He’ll be everyone’s favourite hero by the end of this delightful story, narrated by Olivia Coleman and featuring Matt Smith and Rob Brydon.
Around the World in 80 days (BBC One) – Boxing Day, 5.50pm
We couldn’t think up a more ideal Boxing Day watch than the new BBC adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days, starring David Tenant as the wonderfully scatty and adventurous inventor, Phineas Fogg. The series is set to be nothing short of an indulgent treat, boasting a Hans Zimmer score and promising multiple instalments.
A Very British Scandal (BBC One) – Boxing Day, 27th and 28th at 9pm
