Things to do with the kids over October half term

October half term is right around the corner and we’re sharing what we’re most looking forward to doing our kids over the coming weeks! Whether you want to go all out for Halloween, enjoy family time out in London while it’s at its spookiest or show off your pumpkin carving skills, there’s something on this list for your family to enjoy this half term!

Magic Merlin

This mini-musical from the makers of Jungle Rumble that you and the kids will love this October. Magical Merlin is an amazing wizard living in Ancient Britain. When the baby King Arthur is born and his jealous older sister, Morgan Le Fay, starts turning people into animals, Merlin has to save the day with the help of Sir Lancelot and Princess Guinevere. Get your tickets today and let the magic begin!

Horrible Histories at Cutty Sark

All hands on deck! Get into the Halloween spirit with some horrible, gruesome and creepy stories from the Cutty Sark’s long history. Meet interesting characters from the past, sing sea shanties and listen out for the chilling tale of the ships figurehead, Nanny the witch… Book your family’s sea adventure here.

Hocus Pocus in Concert

We have all been pretty excited about the release of the long awaited Hocus Pocus 2! If you just can’t get enough of everyone’s favourite witchy trio, you can enjoy the iconic film in concert on October 26th. You’ll be treated to a screening of the full film with Emmy-winning composer John Debney’s musical score performed live. Get your tickets before they go!

The Gunpowder Plot at Tower Vaults

Nothing could be more perfect to prepare the family for Halloween and Bonfire Night than this thrilling immersive Gunpowder plot experience at the Tower of London! You won’t just be witnessing history but living it – your five senses will ignite as you make a dangerous attempt to escape the Tower, uncover a secret safehouse, and make the daring journey along the Thames towards the Houses of Parliament. Can you spot Tom Felton as Guy Fawkes himself? Not to be missed!

Day of the Dead at Kew Gardens

You can’t go wrong with a trip to Kew Gardens – it never disappoints! Their Mexico Family Fiesta experience will be no exception. So take the brood to celebrate the Day of the Dead this half term and throw yourselves into the vibrancy of Mexican culture, carnival dancing, parades and much more.

Go Pumpkin crazy!

The Halloween Pumpkin Market at Covent Garden will be back and spookier than ever this year. You’ll be wowed by the insta-worthy display over hundreds of different sized and coloured pumpkins, squashes and gourds – all of which you can buy to carve with the family later! Alternatively, you can head over to the Chelsea Physic Garden for a group pumpkin carving session where you can learn all about pumpkins, explore the spooky Garden shed and the rest of the gorgeous autumnal garden.

Harry Potter Mania at Warner Bros Studios

For us, it’s not October half term without a Harry Potter instalment. If you haven’t already been (or even if you have!) the Dark Arts Halloween Takeover at the Warner Bros Studios in London will definitely get your family in the spirit. For some extra magic, their amazing Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition will take you down memory lane with photos from the many years of behind-the-scenes filmmaking. A real treat for the real Potter-heads in the pack.
