At last, is that sunshine we see? Here are Melissa Murrell’s top 10 fashion picks for the month, perfect for those late summer rays and to take you into a cooler September.
Great jumpsuit, it comes up a little big so go down a size if you’re in-between sizes. Pair with trainers, sandals or heels to get maximum wear-age!
A perfect alternative to the Birkenstock but if they create too much of a heavy look for yourself try the Ayton Leather Sandal from Jigsaw instead.
Size up for more of a fashion look, size down if you want more of a classic fitted look.
Slightly longer than the average short and the thicker waist band draws the waist in beautifully. True to size. Pair with the Jigsaw sliders and the Zara White linen shirt for a great look.
A white linen shirt never goes out of fashion but how you wear it and what you pair it with does. To stay on trend this summer wear it oversized and pair it with the linen shorts mentioned above, some wide leg jeans or over your swimsuit.
Not my usual choice of pattern but having recently worn this for a Jigsaw event it came out as one of the most flattering dresses for all body shapes. It drapes beautifully, nips you in at the waist and can be worn with sliders, trainers or heels. Pair with a leather jacket or the Zara Linen Blazer above.
Doesn’t look anything in the pictures on the Zara website but it’s a great fitting one piece jumpsuit for an English summer day. The wide fitting shorts make anyone with a larger leg look fantastic and the fitted paper bag waistband draws in ones waists really well. Also comes in a blue and white striped version.
I’ve just ordered this for myself but I’m yet to try it on. I’m hoping that it’ll be a perfect holiday evening dress – dressy enough for a meal out but causal enough to look like you haven’t tried too hard!! The front slit at the hem is a great way of showing some leg without actually showing the shape of your leg. The ‘V’ neck breaks up a larger bust and the sleeves will balance out any larger hips. Definitely worth a go!
Give yourself a bit of extra height without the need for painful heels by choosing these gorgeous platform trainers from Jigsaw. They’ll make your legs look longer and leaner but still giving you that casual look. They look great with any midi dress.
A summer light jacket is essential during the British Summer months and this is the one I personally wear with everything. It’s light in weight, goes just as well with dresses as it does with a pair of denim cut off and a t-shirt and is the one piece of clothing that most clients are lacking. It’s not a rain jacket – choose a trench coat to give protection from the summer rain…
