- Keep yourself busy – when you are not doing anything it makes you think of home.
- Introduce yourself to people in your dorm and house as they will be in the same boat as you.
- Start off well with house staff and school staff as relationships are key. First impressions and all that
- Be yourself- don’t try and be “cool” at the start because you will look stupid

- Bring photos to remind you of home!
- Try getting to know everyone in your boarding house, not just people you may know already.
- Don’t worry about missing home too much – you will be doing so many things and having lots of fun that you’ll forget about it….enjoy it!

- Have a fun time with your friends

- Take a photo or a message from home, fold it up and tuck into a pocket/pillow case. So it’s always with you.
- Look forward to breakfast, always something delicious to eat and not what you might get at home which is a plus!
- Nip round and say goodnight to as many people as possible before lights out – fun way to end the day.

- Always include everyone
- Keep busy and get involved in all the activities on offer

- Get stuck into the evening activities – even if you wouldn’t normally do a craft activity it could be really fun
- Don’t forget to tuck into the cereal in the evening as well

- Try and get to know everyone in your dorm asap and first impressions aren’t everything
- Take photos of home to stick up by your bed
- Seize the opportunity when there’s not much going on to get an early night and catch up on sleep
- Have a shower in the morning to wake you up and you may not have a chance in the evening
