World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day | Time to raise awareness about depression

Pupils of Bradfield College held a charity day in the summer, the highlight of which was the colour run.

They raised money for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, which helps people understand and talk openly about depression, stay mentally well and access appropriate treatment.

The Trust reaches thousands of children and young people through its work in schools, offering free training to teachers, pupils and parents.

It also offers a free mental health book club, and many other resources, including ‘A parent’s guide to depression’ and a Wellbeing Action Plan for young people.

TV news presenter Mary Nightingale supports the Trust. She says:
Last year, we filmed a CWMT trainer at St Paul’s school for an ITN News piece and I was very struck by the boys’ receptiveness. The Trust is helping thousands of young people talk about their mental health, equipping them to look after their wellbeing and, ultimately, helping to save lives.
