Bee Osborn on choosing the right accessories

It’s the little things that matter! Choosing accessories and styling a space can sometimes feel like a daunting task. But selecting the right pieces and materials can make a room feel instantly cosier and more put together.  Bee Osborn, our Interiors expert shows us how.

Cushions:

A great place to start is by determining the colour palette of your room and selecting pieces that match it. Accessories such as cushions can be a great opportunity to explore different colours and patterns, as these are items that are easy to change with the seasons and trends.

Using pattern doesn’t need to feel intimidating, there are lots of fabrics out there that come in a selection of soft colours and beautiful designs to match all interiors. A little bit of pattern, even in the most neutral colours add interest and life to a space and can make a simple old sofa feel fresh and exciting again.

Rugs:

When choosing a rug it’s in important to think about the size, we would always suggest going bigger than you think. In a large open-plan space you can use multiple rugs, that you can cleverly use for zoning and separating the different areas.

We like to use rugs that are neutral coloured and have natural texture to them, a sisal or a jute rug is our go to. It instantly adds interest, texture and warmth to a space.

A great tip if you’re struggling with finding the correct size rug, is purchasing a piece of carpet that can be cut to size followed by fabricating the edges to create a beautiful large scale rug without it costing a fortune.
