Entertaining al fresco? Bee Osborn sprinkles her design magic

Warm summer evenings are the perfect time to entertain and spend time with loved ones in your garden. With a few easy steps and small additions you can transform your usual garden seating area into an outdoor haven.

Bringing some chairs and stools from indoors to the garden is a great way of creating additional seating without having to purchase lots of new outdoor furniture. But don’t forget to bring everything in at the end of the day.

An outdoor seating area can instantly be made to feel more comfortable and cosy by adding a selection of cushions and throws to it. Again, these can easily be brought from your living room as long as not left out in the rain.

We like to use both real and faux candles depending on the occasion, weather and if there are children and dogs around.

By dotting around lanterns and candles in your garden you can create a lovely and almost magical atmosphere in the evening. You can even hang the lanterns from a tree or a fence. It’s all about creating small pockets of light around the garden.

Another great way for creating a cosy glow is by using outdoor lamps and lights. We adore the look of twinkling fairy lights on a summers evening.

We love displaying food and drinks on gorgeous boards and trays. Such as cheeses and charcuterie on our beautiful resin boards and wine bottles in zinc pots filled with ice.

We also recommend using outdoor rugs under any seating area, as this helps create an enticing and pulled together outdoor living space. Why not layer a few for extra cosiness.

Picking cow parsley, small branches and sticks to display in pots on outdoor tables adds a lovely finishing touch to any setting. Upcycling old items as planters by lining them and filling with green foliage is another great way of creating a relaxed and natural feel to your garden seating area.

If you have the space, having a firepit in your garden is a lovely feature for family and friends to gather around on chilly evenings.
