It’s a good year for the rosés! Helen McGinn’s top wine picks

There’s something about sunshine that really does bring out the best in pink wine and this year is a really good year for the rosés. Of course, Provence still rules, but there are plenty of others to pick from including pale ones from England, to perky ones from Spain. Here are Knackered Mothers Wine Club, Helen McGinn’s top picks, guaranteed to keep you in the pink this summer.

Simpson’s Rose, £14.99, Waitrose
As pale as Provence but this one’s from Kent, made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes by the brilliant team at Simpson’s. Crisp and fresh with a whisper of gorgeous summer fruits.

Mirabeau en Provence Classic, £12.99, Waitrose
Made by an Englishman in Provence, this is one of the best value go-to pale rosés around. Consistently good with light grapefruit flavours and a twist of redcurrant.

Love by Leoube X Marlo, £17.95, Marlo.wine
If you want to step it up a notch, this exclusive collaboration between Leoube (owned by the Bamford family) and online wine shop Marlo is, quite literally, a gift!

Rose Marie 2020, £6, Asda
Made from grapes grown in the larger Mediterranee region in Southern France, this is a bit like Provence but way cheaper. Refreshingly good.

Cune Rioja Rosado, £8.50, Co-op
Don’t forget Spain when it comes to rose, or rosado as it’s called here. And Rioja do them brilliantly, especially when it’s made by a top producer like this one. Just add tapas.

Tesco Finest Prosecco Rose, £8, Tesco
Until recently, pink prosecco wasn’t allowed by Italian law. But now it’s here and, if you like your fizz on the frothy and fun side, it can be fabulous. This one’s a firm favourite.
