September’s top viewing picks!
With September’s arrival, there’s been a gluttony of amazing programmes hitting our screens, (thank you Netflix!). Here are a few of our favourite things!
TOP DOCUMENTARIES
SOCIAL DILEMMA – (Netflix)
A real eye-opener on the truths around social media told by the tech experts of Silicon Valley. It will definitely get you questioning how you use your own technology and so possibly worth watching with your teens (if you can get them off their screens!)
ATHLETE A – (Netflix)
An horrific but compelling insight into the history of abuse suffered by the girls and women of the USA Gymnastics team by the hands of serial abuser Dr. Larry Nassar.
BINGE-WORTHY BOXSETS
MEDICI – (Netflix)
A 3-season blockbuster set in 15th-century Renaissance Italy. This drama follows the lives of the Medici family, a powerful banking dynasty who are fighting to preserve their power in Florence. Great cast too with the likes of Richard Madden, Sean Bean and Dustin Hoffman.
RATCHED – (Netflix)
The full first series has recently been released on Netflix and we are hooked! Word of warning though, some scenes are pretty gruesome and so not for the faint-hearted. This American psychological thriller is set in 1947 and follows the life of Mildred Ratched who is working as nurse at a leading psychiatric hospital. Stylistically shot and beautifully acted.
GUILTY PLEASURES – (Shhh! don’t tell anyone…)
BELOW DECK – (Netflix)
A bit behind the party, as this is quite a few series in, but we are loving this reality show following the lives of a young crew working aboard a privately owned mega-yacht. All is not as glamorous and luxurious as it seems especially when you get to meet some of the more demanding clients!
HOME EDIT – (Netflix)
Expert home organisers Clea and Joanna help celebrities and everyday clients edit, categorise and contain their clutter to create stunning spaces. Enter the dressing-rooms (the size of which are jaw-dropping) of some very famous faces.
COMEDY
GHOSTS – (BBC)
And we didn’t want to finish without mentioning that a new series of Ghosts is now on the BBC. Written and performed by many of the original cast members of Horrible Histories, these 30-minute episodes are just very funny as they follow the lives of Alison and Mike who inherit a very haunted manor house.
